The Anambra State government has complained about the several ‘unwarranted’ social media attacks, geared at painting the state in bad light.

Don Onyenji, the Commissioner for Culture, Entertainment and Tourism, had expressed the government’s outrage during a press briefing in Awka on Saturday, July 1.

According to the Commissioner, logging on to social media to lambast the state government was akin to de-marketing the state and scaring away prospective investors.

In Onyenji’s words, anyone who had issues with the government of the state, particularly journalists, should air their grievances through the conventional media. Extra measures should also be applied so as to get responses from the suitable ministry, department or agency.

Oyenji had finished his statement by conceding that the government was always open to criticisms and would always take responsibility where necessary.

It is noteworthy to mention that Anambra State’s tourism and hospitality sector has been picking up and generating some buzz, however, Onyenji’s fears are not to be brushed aside as the negative image being peddled about the state would have a negative effect on the effort of the state government to push the state to the forefront in the country.
