Grammy-winning singer Lizzo took to social media to deny the claims made in a recent lawsuit filed by three of her former dancers, alleging a hostile work environment. Lizzo, whose real name is Melissa Viviane Jefferson, addressed the accusations as “unbelievable” and “outrageous.” The lawsuit was filed two days prior in Los Angeles County Superior Court and includes allegations of harassment based on sex, religion, race, and disability.

In addition to Lizzo, the lawsuit also names her production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc, and Shirlene Quigley, the captain of her dance team, as defendants. Lizzo stated that the three former employees had been previously informed about their inappropriate and unprofessional behavior before leaving her employment.

The plaintiffs – Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez – claimed they were coerced into inappropriate actions during a strip club performance in Amsterdam in February. The lawsuit further alleges that Davis was pressured into participating in a nude photo shoot despite her discomfort to stay in a dance competition, fearing she might lose her job if she refused Lizzo’s alleged requests.

Lizzo emphasized her openness with sexuality and self-expression but refused to accept false portrayals of herself. She also mentioned she has experienced body-shaming and would never terminate an employee based on their weight.

The plaintiffs’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, accused Lizzo of body-shaming and demeaning her dancers in illegal and demoralizing ways. Lizzo countered that she would never engage in such behavior and knows what it feels like to be body-shamed.

The lawsuit also claims that Quigley subjected the dancers to her religious beliefs against their will and revealed personal details about Davis on social media without her consent. Representatives for Quigley have not yet responded to the allegations.

As the situation unfolds, the controversy surrounding Lizzo’s former dancers and her denial continues to draw attention and discussions in the entertainment industry.
