Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has issued certificates of recognition to four monarchs in the state.

Soludo had given the traditional rulers their certificates on Saturday, August 19, in a private ceremony held at the government house in the state’s capital, Awka.

While giving out the certificates, he had recognised that several unofficial persons in several communities were seizing the spots of traditional rulers, an act that would not go unpunished as Soludo had said that henceforth, people who participated in such acts would be jailed for six months.

The press secretary to the governor, Mr Christian Aburime, had enumerated the traditional rulers who got the certificates. They include: Igwe Mkpuorah Ngini, the monarch of Isuaniocha in Awka North Local Government Area, Eze Augustine Nwangwu of Ajali, the Orumba North Local Government monarch, Igwe Alexander Azike, the monarch of Igbo-ukwu, and Igwe Ikechukwu Ezeofor of Umuona of Aguata Local Government Area.

These Traditional rulers were famously elected in their respective communities in keeping with their various constitutions.

Soludo had finished the statement by stating that his administration had conducted not less than 110 elections in communities using option A4 system.
In his words:
“Anambra State strictly works under the traditional rulers constitution. Those touting themselves as traditional rulers when they are not recognized by the state must henceforth stop such act or face six months imprisonment.”
