The Nigerian Army has announced that it has begun investigating an alleged murder of a Lagos-based driver, identified as Lawal.
Lawal had been reportedly killed by certain men in military uniform on August 17, 2023.
The announcement of the probe was contained in a statement issued on Sunday, August 20, by Lieutenant Colonel Olabisi Ayeni, the Acting Deputy Director of Army Public Relations, 81 Division.
The Army had stated that though information into the claims were as yet, scanty, it would be most appropriate to bring the incident to public notice and the steps being taken to pin out the suspected persons in military uniform, believed to be soldiers, and bring them to book, if they really were serving soldiers.
The statement reads:
“The Army Division is presently in conjunction with the Nigerian Police, Lagos State Command, investigating the identity of the alleged suspects and the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident.
The Army had meanwhile, commiserated with the family of the victims while pledging that justice would be served in due time.
