Nyesom Wike’s Bold Warning Shakes Abuja: Demands Strict Adherence to Master Plan

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has ignited a contentious discourse by issuing a stern warning to property owners whose structures are disrupting the master plan of Abuja.

During a recent press conference in Abuja, Wike minced no words, saying, “Those individuals altering the master plan of Abuja should take note. If you’ve constructed where you shouldn’t have, your edifice will be razed to the ground.” This declaration followed his inauguration at the State House.

Notably, Wike emphasized that this decree applies universally, irrespective of the transgressor’s stature – even ministers or ambassadors are not exempt. “Any establishment found in an unauthorized location must face demolition,” he emphasized.

Moreover, Wike’s concern extended to landowners who have encroached upon designated “green areas” for construction, decrying their actions and demanding a restitution of these spaces. “Resisting greenery is tantamount to resisting one’s own well-being. We cannot tolerate anyone converting parks into restaurants,” he stated unequivocally.

While Wike’s warning stirred controversy, it’s worth revisiting previous claims against him. During the 2023 Presidential Elections, accusations were leveled at Wike for allegedly supporting Bola Tinubu and undermining the chances of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State. These allegations of political maneuvering led to contrasting opinions regarding Wike’s loyalty and intentions.

Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the South-South region, openly labeled Wike as a “betrayal” due to his perceived close affiliation with President-elect Tinubu. This perceived collaboration between Wike and Tinubu further fueled suspicions that Wike favored Tinubu in the presidential race earlier this year.

It’s essential to recall Wike’s stance during that election cycle, where he opposed PDP’s candidate Atiku Abubakar and advocated for power rotation to the South. Eze, in his comments to Daily Post, expressed skepticism about Wike’s motivations and future prospects.

Eze’s assertion that Wike is a “confused and drowning fellow” looking for survival has led to a polarized assessment of Wike’s political trajectory. Eze further emphasized that Wike’s political inclinations would not dictate the fate of others, citing their independence and determination.

In response to rumors of Wike potentially joining the APC, Eze dismissed concerns, asserting that he, along with Amaechi and other political associates, have progressed beyond being influenced by individuals. Eze underlined their autonomy and dismissed the notion that Wike’s allegiances would affect them.

By aligning with Tinubu and demonstrating submission, he ultimately secured a Ministerial role. Now, a new influential figure has emerged in Abuja, and that figure is none other than Wike!
