Basketmouth Extends Apology: Ends 17-Year Feud with AY

In an unexpected twist, Nigerian comedian Bright Okpocha, famously known as Basketmouth, has finally given in to the mounting pressure. Basketmouth has issued an apology to those he may have inadvertently offended, including his fellow comedian, AY.

In a video shared on his X page, Basketmouth, he remarked that only the Almighty himself could decipher the truth, particularly when it came to allegations that he had hindered others’ careers.

He stated, “Now, to all my colleagues in the industry, if I’ve stepped on your comedic toes knowingly or unknowingly, brace yourselves, because from the depths of my comic heart, I extend a sincere apology. Please find it in your hearts to forgive me.”

Addressing those who accused him of wielding his comedic powers to thwart their progress, Basketmouth took a pause and added, “As for the folks who’ve pointed fingers at me, alleging I’ve cast shadows over their careers, I won’t confirm or deny these claims. Let’s leave it to the heavens to sort out. But regardless, pretty please, forgive me. I’m begging you, and I mean it from the funny bone of my heart.”

He extended an olive branch to comedian AY Makun, urging him to bury the hatchet on their 17-year-old feud. “Now, my buddy AY, I’m not sure if my apology still holds weight, but if it does, please pardon me for anything I may have said or done in the past that ruffled your comedic feathers. Please, I’m on my knees, forgive me.”

Basketmouth continued with a comedic flourish, “I want you to know that I’ve already laughed off whatever you may have tossed my way, knowingly or unknowingly. It’s water under the comedy bridge. Let’s just have a good laugh together and bring back the comedy harmony.”

When the initial clash between Basketmouth and AY unfolded, it sparked a comedic frenzy in the industry. Many stood by Basketmouth, urging everyone to wait for the punchline before passing judgment. Some even jokingly labeled AY as “Petty A.Y.” over a mere 30,000 Naira owed by Basketmouth.
