The Senate has approved three ministerial nominees namely, Jamila Ibrahim (for Kwara State); Balarabe Lawal (for Kaduna State); and Ayodele Olawande (for Ondo State), in addition to the 45 nominees previously appointed by the Red Chamber in August 2023.
This appointment is coming a day after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wrote to the Senate, looking to confirm the latest nominees.
Approximately two and a half hours after the exercise began around 1:00 pm on Wednesday, October 4, the Senate President Godwill Akpabio presented the nominations via a voice vote.
The senators voted in favour of the listed nominees’ confirmation.
In a dramatic twist during the event, Lawal fainted after finishing his introduction speech, spurring several people nearby to rush to his aid.
He was thankfully resuscitated minutes later to the relief if everyone.
