Napoli’s star striker and Nigeria’s pride, Victor Osimhen, finds himself on the injury bench. Following a 2-2 friendly match against Saudi Arabia in Portugal’s Portimao stadium, Osimhen, who left the pitch in the 55th minute, is now scheduled for an MRI scan.

Jose Peseiro, the coach of the Super Eagles, confirmed this development and hinted at Osimhen’s probable absence in the upcoming Monday’s friendly against Mozambique. He even delivered a memorable line: “We don’t have to play him again whatever the outcome of the scan.” Talk about a firm decision!

For context, Osimhen has been a goal-scoring machine, netting six goals in Serie A this season and leading Napoli to a title victory last season. But it’s worth noting that this injury occurred in a match that didn’t even result in a win for Nigeria. The Super Eagles, after a seesaw battle, had to share the spoils, tying 2-2 with Saudi Arabia.

The drama unfolded as Kelechi Iheanacho, coming off the bench, momentarily gave Nigeria the upper hand after they fell behind. However, a late free-kick from the Saudis brought the match to a fittingly hilarious end – a draw!
