The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has reacted to a statement credited to the former Senate President, Senator Adolphus Wabara, where he purportedly endorsed the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, in his second term.

The political party had in a statement signed by its Vice Chairman for Abia North, Mr Abraham Amah, said that Wabara, the acting Board of Trustee Chairman of PDP, had made the endorsement during the recent flag off of reconstruction of Aba-Port-Harcourt road, by Governor Otti.

According to the statement, Wabara had praised the Abia State governor, stating that he was reliable and a true man of honour as well as a seasoned strategist that deserved a second term in office as the Abia state governor.

The Abia PDP branch had however, revealed in the statement, that the former Senate President had not spoken the party’s mind, and had only aired his opinion.

The statement partly read:

“While we recognize his [Wubara’s] entitlement to his personal opinions on issues concerning governance in Abia State and Nigeria, the Abia PDP is repressed to warn that such a highly placed official of the PDP who failed to secure his unit for the Party during the last election should be conscious of his conduct and statements in the public, most particularly if the person is not well acquainted on the issue at hand.

The Party has specific channels of communication which must not be contravened upon by any officer, no matter how highly placed the officer is.”
