In a concerning turn of events, the recurring kidnappings of Priests in Nigeria are fueling suspicions of an agenda against Christianity within the nation. While some may argue that there’s no such agenda, the frequent abductions of Priests, compared to the apparent absence of similar incidents involving Imams, have raised questions.

The most recent incident took place in Taraba State when Rev. Fr Thaddeus Terhembe of Wukari Catholic Diocese was abducted in the early hours of a Sunday. The abduction occurred at his parish, Saint Ann’s Parish, Sarkin Kudu, in the Ibi Local Government Area. A statement from the communication officer, Rev Fr John Jerome, confirmed this alarming event and called for prayers for Rev. Fr Thaddeus’s safety and swift return.

In a related incident, two individuals were kidnapped in the Gulum area of Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State. These victims not only suffered abduction but also had their personal belongings taken from them. The kidnappers carried out the act without any apparent interference, leading to growing concerns about the security situation in the region.

The Taraba State Police Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Usman, has confirmed the occurrence of these incidents. Many are increasingly distressed by the persistent wave of kidnappings, hoping for an end to this madness. It is the hope of the people that the government will take decisive action to address this issue and put an end to any perceived agenda against Christianity in Nigeria.
