In the realm of legal studies, especially for aspiring law students delving into Land Law, the name of Professor Ben Nwabueze was one that resonated through countless classrooms. But every story, even those of eminent legal scholars, eventually reaches its conclusion. And today, we pay tribute to a luminary who has bid farewell to this mortal world.

Professor Ben Nwabueze, a preeminent legal mind, and the pioneering Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo worldwide, has passed away. He was not merely a legal luminary but a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. On a somber Sunday, at the age of 94, he departed this world. The family, represented by Eni Nwabueze, conveyed this news, noting that details regarding his final journey would be shared at a later time.

In a heartfelt statement, they declared, “With great sadness, we announce the passing of our patriarch, Professor Ben .O. Nwabueze SAN, NNOM, CON, pioneer Secretary-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo and Oduah Afo-na-Isagba of Atani, Anambra State, on Sunday, October 29th, 2023, at the age of 94. He lived an exemplary life of consequence.”

The Anambra State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Paul Nwosu, also confirmed this solemn news, further underscoring the loss of this legal giant.

Born in Atani, within the Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra State, Professor Nwabueze’s influence extended far beyond his place of birth. His contributions to the field of law and his dedication to the welfare of his people were remarkable.

Today, we bid farewell to a great legal erudite, whose legacy will continue to inspire generations to come.
