Kogi State Election Drama Unfolds: Official Arrested with Cash and Ammo in ‘Ghana-must-go’ Bags

Amidst the election chaos in Kogi State, the script played out predictably—violence and controversy made their grand entrance, as expected. Security officials allegedly apprehended James Onoja, the council chairman of Igalamela Local Government Area, reportedly in possession of both a sizable stash of cash and ammunition.

And here’s the funny part—the cash and ammo weren’t just casually lying around; they were neatly packed in those infamous ‘Ghana-must-go’ bags, ready, it seems, for some dubious purpose during the election.

In a video that quickly spread, the suspects were caught red-handed, sitting on the ground near an army checkpoint, looking not-so-innocent. Their plea for forgiveness in the viral video didn’t exactly add a convincing touch to their plight.

The Police Public Relations Officer in Kogi State, William Ovye, remained silent amidst these uproarious events, leaving the curious and concerned without answers.

As if this wasn’t enough drama for a day, reports revealed the election’s bumpy ride—vote-buying accusations surfacing against a backdrop of remarkably low voter turnout.

The Peoples Democratic Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Dino Melaiye, called for the cancellation of elections in five LGAs in the state, adding a cherry on top of the chaos cake.

Ah, Kogi State, ever the entertainer! It seems they’ve mastered the art of never failing to surprise. Laughs aside, the situation reveals deeper issues in the electoral process, warranting a serious review.
