Kogi Election Chaos: SDP Candidate Accuses INEC of Foul Play

In Nigeria, where trust in elections is as rare as a unicorn, politicians aim to climb to power for that sweet cash stash. Muritala Ajaka, the Social Democratic Party’s candidate in Kogi State, isn’t too happy with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He’s pointing fingers at them for the recent governorship election chaos.

Ajaka, in a TV show called The Verdict, slammed INEC, claiming they gave the impression that everything would run smoothly but ended up in a mess. He even suggests that the INEC team sent to the state might have played dirty by having result sheets all over before the election even began.

He’s not just talking; Ajaka claims to have evidence to back his beef with INEC. He even joked that if they knew it was going to be a wild jungle, they would’ve prepped for survival.

He also throws shade at the INEC officials, accusing them of handing over result sheets to the other side before the election. Now, INEC plans a do-over in 59 polling units this Saturday because, surprise, things didn’t go smoothly.

“Of course, we have written to them and have evidence. It is just unfortunate that these things happened this way,” Akaja maintained when asked if he had evidence for his claims.

“If we had known we were going into a jungle, we would have prepared for a jungle arrangement,” the SDP chieftain added, saying it would have been an “All man to himself” arrangement.

“The Federal Government has done its own part. We must give kudos to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu. He provided security for everybody,” he said on the show.

So far, Ajaka is playing catch-up to his APC rival Usman Ododo, and well, no one’s shocked about the whole Kogi election drama – it’s almost expected!
