A couple of months back, the internet was ablaze with chatter over Jimmy Odukoya stepping into the leadership of Living Fountain Church. As a former Nollywood actor turned senior pastor, his recent fundraiser during a church service sparked both awe and debate.
Stepping into his late father’s shoes, Taiwo Odukoya, founder of the Fountain of Life Church, Jimmy’s takeover stirred controversy. Many doubted his spiritual credentials due to his acting background, deeming the church a mere business hub. However, despite the skepticism, Jimmy’s tenure has seen stability, with both himself and his congregation faring well.

In a widely circulated video on social media, Jimmy was seen collecting funds for a student’s 140,000 naira school fee, eventually amassing a whopping 640,000 naira. Another instance featured a lady seeking 7,500 Canadian dollars (approximately 6.3 million naira) and ending up with 9.6 million naira from church members.
This display of generosity by Pastor Jimmy has sparked a mix of reactions. Many praised his actions, lauding his kindness. Yet, there remains a segment of Nigerians skeptical about his intentions. Some questioned if it was merely a pursuit of attention, wondering why he publicized it when many pastors help discreetly. Others pondered why he didn’t personally assist rather than rely on his congregation.
What’s your perspective on this, dear reader?
