In a déjà vu moment reminiscent of their previous season, Arsenal finds themselves at the top of the Premier League yet faces skepticism about maintaining their position after a disappointing end to the previous campaign, especially against Man City.

The recent match against Wolves saw Arsenal survive a late scare, clinging to their lead in the league. Meanwhile, Burnley’s resounding 5-0 victory against a ten-man Sheffield United marked a significant rise from the bottom of the table.

While it seems improbable for Arsenal to secure this season’s championship unless a miraculous turn of events unfolds, the lingering hope for the unexpected remains.

Under Mikel Arteta’s guidance, Arsenal, riding high on confidence following a dominant 6-0 win against Lens in the Champions League, swiftly secured a 2-0 lead within the first 13 minutes at the Emirates. Bukayo Saka’s opener and Martin Odegaard’s clinical finish amplified their advantage.

Despite Gabriel Martinelli’s close attempt hitting the post towards the end of the first half, Arsenal couldn’t widen their lead, leaving the game unsettled. A late strike from Wolves’ Matheus Cunha in the 86th minute injected tension, setting the stage for a nerve-wracking finish.

However, Arsenal managed to hold on, claiming their 10th victory in 14 league games. This win propelled them four points ahead of reigning champions Manchester City, who are set to face Tottenham in an upcoming fixture.

The prevailing sentiment suggests an air of predictability, hinting at Manchester City’s eventual triumph once more in the league. Despite Arsenal’s commendable performance and current lead, doubts loom large about their ability to maintain momentum and clinch the championship this season.
