Edo State’s Deputy Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu, is not holding back in the face of billboard destruction related to his campaign for the Governorship seat. The man’s got plans, and nobody, not even Governor Obaseki, seems to deter him from his gubernatorial ambitions.
Stepping onto Lagos Street, visibly riled up, Shaibu couldn’t contain his frustration at seeing his billboards smashed down, not once but twice in the same spot. It’s like, seriously, folks, can’t a man campaign in peace?
He made it crystal clear that this act won’t help anybody; it’s the Edo people who’ll decide their next governor. Shaibu’s like, “Hey, Edo people, are you listening?”
The Deputy Governor, with a mix of anger and annoyance, pointed out that he had booked and paid for these spots way back in June 2023. Talk about planning ahead! And now, seeing them vandalized just rubs him the wrong way.
He warned that such actions might scare off potential investors from the state. According to him, everyone needs to be on their best behavior, both as a government and as individuals, to avoid messing things up.
“We’re replacing those billboards, and they better not mess with them again,” he declared. Clearly, Shaibu’s patience is running thin, and he’s not about to let it slide. “We want peace in Edo before, during, and after the election,” he emphasized.
Looks like this Governorship race in Edo is shaping up to be a real nail-biter. The contenders mean serious business, and Edo people are eager for a leader who’ll steer the state in the right direction. Hold onto your seats, folks; it’s going to be one hell of an election!
