From 2024, JAMB DE candidates would begin writing their aptitude tests on work sampling, verbal, abstract, mechanical, and numerical reasoning, and data checking. This ‘restructuring’ of sorts, is to properly guage the applicants academic ability, career sustainability and mental capacity.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board –JAMB announced on Monday that its candidates’ Direct Entry examination would be exposed to cognitive and verbal reasoning tests. This new plan would take effect in 2024.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, had spoken on this during a virtual meeting with the Commissioners of Education from the Federation’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.
A special bulletin printed by the Board on Monday cited Oloyede saying that, “As from 2024, JAMB will oversee Aptitude Test for all Direct Entry candidates to rate their academic potential, career suitability, and their mental or physical capacity.”
According to Oloyede, it was an intelligent test that would assess the candidate’s current cognitive skills.
The assessment will, however, not be on the usual subjects such as Mathematics, Chemistry, Government, Physics.
It would rather be on verbal, abstract, mechanical, and numerical reasoning, data checking, and work sampling.
Oloyede further informed the participants that the Direct Entry registration will be restricted to only JAMB Offices in the country.
