President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria convened a meeting with the Forum of State Chairmen of the All Progressives’ Congress (APC) at the State House in Abuja, addressing several key issues.

NIN registration for effective planning
He reiterated the government’s commitment to enhancing citizens’ living standards, urging grassroots leaders to promote National Identification Number (NIN) registration for effective planning and integration into relief programs. He emphasized the need for accurate data and iron-clad, digital intervention structures in order to effectively tackle societal issues.

President Tinubu outlined a progressive agenda encompassing initiatives such as student loans, a national consumer credit system, and social welfare for both unemployed individuals and graduates. He affirmed the government’s dedication to ensuring every Nigerian feels included and valued.

Sustainable farming

Highlighting the pivotal role of agriculture in Nigeria’s economic growth, President Tinubu unveiled plans for large-scale livestock farming and emphasized the importance of mechanized farming and economic diversification to address food security challenges. He mentioned the government project of supplying Fertilizers to farmers to aid agriculture. Expressing confidence that with time, the country’s situation will turn for the better.

Collective responsibility

Emphasizing collective responsibility for Nigeria’s welfare, President Tinubu urged party members to proactively engage in good governance and civic education, particularly regarding NIN registration, essential for social security interventions. He mentioned that leaders should not wait on appointments before bringing good governance and exemplary civic engagement to the doors of Nigerians. Stating that the repositioning of the economy is a top national priority

Subsidy removal

Addressing corruption and subsidy removal, President Tinubu vowed to defend the people’s interests against vested interests and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to restoring hope and combating destabilizing forces.

He accused beneficiaries of subsidy payments of resisting his administration’s plans to deploy resources to critical sectors and areas with significant impact on the welfare of Nigerians.

APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, expressed unwavering support for the president. However, lingering questions about the administration’s trustworthiness and public expectations underscore the need for continued scrutiny and accountability.

The ultimate test lies in whether the administration can regain Nigerians’ trust, a challenge that remains to be seen.
