Nigerian comedian and filmmaker, Ayo Makun, popularly known by his stage name, AY, has broken his silence after his estranged wife, Mabel, gave credence to the rumours that had been swirling on social media about the end of their 16-year old marriage.
Mabel gad in an Instagram post revealed that her dream of a lifelong marriage had taken a “different direction,” and she was now committed to “moving forward with grace and resilience.” A stark admission if there ever was of the pair going their separate ways.
Mabel had further added in her post that it was a challenging period for her, and asked for “privacy and consideration as we (my ex-husband and I) find our own path [going] forward.”
In reaction to Mabel’s post, AY expressed optimism that the challenging period would blow over.
On his official Instagram page, he had written:
“This too shall pass.”
Sometime previously, the popular comedian had cried out that his friendship/marriage of 20 years was slipping out of his hands. It seems that it has now finally broken up.
