24 year old Owowoh Princess Oluchukwu has graduated from the United Kingdom’s Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) as the first-ever Nigerian female officer.

She graduated on Friday as one of the 135 Officer Cadets to graduate during RMAS’ Sovereign’s Parade in London.

The march which marked the end of 44 weeks of rigorous training for the Officer Cadets of Commissioning Course 232 was graced by the presence of His Majesty King Charles, represented by the head of the French Army, Général d’armée Pierre SchilI, Chief of the Army Staff. He inspected the young officer.

Princess was described as ‘very happy, very proud’ wearing a ‘beaming smile’ throughout the ceremony.

Speaking of her achievement, she had this to say, “It is a profound honour to be the first Nigerian female officer to commission from the esteemed Royal Military Academy Sandhurst.

This achievement is not mine alone, but a testament to the unwavering support of my family, mentors, instructors, and countless individuals who believed in me every step of the way.

“As I look ahead to the future, I am committed to representing Nigeria with pride, and to making a positive difference in the world.”

Officer Cadet Oluchukwu has joined a significant line of prominent Nigerian male military officers, some of whom later became Heads of State, to have attended Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the UK.

Giving a remark about Princess, an army representative said ”A lot of the hierarchy from her own forces were there to witness the event. By all accounts she is a very popular person judging by all of the people who were hugging her.

She is very physically powerful and was very intent on wanting to join the Nigerian military. She had a beaming smile all the way through.”

Officer cadet Oluchukwu will now return to serve in the Nigerian military where she is expected to join the intelligence corps.
