Authorities in Amsterdam attempted to arrest popular rap sensation, Nicki Minaj for purported drug possession, according to an Instagram Live session and a series of posts on X she shared on Saturday.

In her Instagram Live, an official was heard saying in the Live video that they wanted to take the Grammy nominee singer into custody for reportedly “carrying drugs” — an allegation the rapper had denied.

“I’m not going in there. I need a lawyer present,”

Nicki Minaj had initially resisted and protested before she was seen in the video, stepping into a police vehicle.

The global artist is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour and at the time of making this report, it is not clear if she was actually driven to a police station.

What They’re Saying

Not satisfied with filming an Instagram live, Nicki Minaj had taken to her official X handle on Saturday to post;

“Now they said they found weed & that another group of ppl have to come here to weigh the pre-rolls.

“Keep in mind they took my bags without consent. My security has already advised them those pre-rolls belong to him. Oh yea & the pilot wants me to take my IG post down.”

Her latest X post at the making this report reads;

“Now they said I have to go 5 mins away to make a statement about my security to the police precinct.”

The star had also shared a video on Instagram where she had captured the authorities, in an attempt to corroborate her claims.

In that video, an official was seen letting her know that all of her baggage needed to be checked.

“Isn’t that what you planned on doing from the get-go? Why didn’t you search it before it went on the plane?” Minaj was heard questioning the man.

What it Means

There are several implications for Nicki Minaj’s arrest in Amsterdam for alleged drug possession.

As the singer is currently on her Pink Friday 2 World Tour, this incident could disrupt her tour schedule, leading to potential cancellations or rescheduling of performances, which could impact both her revenue and her fans.

Additionally, being involved in a drug possession case could affect her public image and brand endorsements. If it turns out that the allegations are false, the association with such an incident will have lasting effects on her reputation.

Depending on the outcome of the investigation and the legal proceedings in Amsterdam, Nicki Minaj could face legal challenges, not to talk of the potential fines, court appearances, or even travel restrictions.
