French footballer and Juventus midfielder, Paul Pogba, has made a heart-wrenching declaration about his career, describing himself as “dead” and “non-existent” in the wake of his recent doping scandal. The former Manchester United star’s candid reflections come as he grapples with a four-year ban for testing positive for testosterone metabolites.

In an emotional interview, Pogba revealed the fleeting nature of fame and success in professional football, highlighting the harsh realities athletes face. “Football is very beautiful, but it’s cruel. You can do something great, and the next day you’re nobody. I’m over, I’m dead. Paul Pogba doesn’t exist anymore,” he lamented.

Pogba’s ordeal began in September when he was provisionally suspended following a failed drugs test that detected elevated levels of testosterone.

This test was conducted randomly after Juventus’ opening match of the season on August 20. A subsequent confirmation from a second sample in October led to the formal imposition of the ban by Italy’s national anti-doping tribunal (NADO).

The ban marks a significant setback for the 30-year-old midfielder, who has had a storied career with significant achievements, including a FIFA World Cup win with France in 2018. However, as Pogba points out, the rapid descent from celebrated footballer to sidelined player underscores the ruthless and unforgiving nature of the sport.

Pogba’s current contract with Juventus and his immediate future in football hang in the balance as he navigates this challenging period. His legal team is expected to appeal NADO’s decision, with hopes of reducing the suspension period.

Pogba’s situation serves as a stark reminder of the pressures and vulnerabilities athletes face, and his poignant words resonate deeply within the football community. As he battles to clear his name, the world watches closely, hoping for a resolution that will allow the talented midfielder to reclaim his place on the pitch.
