The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has apprehended three individuals linked to a robbery group causing distress in the Ikot Abasi village. The Police Public Relations Officer, Timfon John, revealed this in a statement on Saturday.
The arrests occurred around 2 pm on July 1, following the suspects’ alleged robbery of a resident. The arrested individuals, John Okon Anta, Michael Osudua, and Inyene Joseph Edet, reportedly robbed the victim at gunpoint, taking a QLINK motorcycle, phones, and a power bank charger.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects had previously robbed two homes in Afaha Ikot Abasi Village, stealing mobile phones and other valuables.
The suspects confessed to their crimes, and a locally-made pistol was recovered. Efforts are underway to capture other members of the syndicate. The suspects will face charges in court after the investigation concludes.
