The governor of ondo state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has issued N1 billion to cover the arrears in gratuities owed to retired primary school teachers and local government employees who left their jobs in 2012.
Amidu Takuro, the Ondo commissioner for chieftaincy affairs and local government, announced that the beneficiaries would begin collecting payments on Tuesday.
According to Takuro, the money was released to guarantee that retiree gratuities be paid in full rather than in parts.
Takuro stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa was sympathetic to the needs of the people, particularly retired civil officials.

“The first tranche of the bulk payment of gratuity arrears was paid late last year by the immediate former governor of the state, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.
“In order to sustain this outstanding effort, His Excellency, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Ayedatiwa, has chosen to make it quarterly. He has been aware of his responsibilities in terms of pension payments, worker salaries, and other benefits.
