Marseille has submitted a bid for Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, aiming to secure the player for £27 million while also agreeing to a significant sell-on clause that could reach 50%. The 22-year-old forward, who recently returned to United after a season-long loan with Getafe, is set to leave the club following discussions with United officials.

Greenwood, who faced charges of attempted rape, assault, and coercive control before they were dropped in February 2023, has been informed that he has no future at Manchester United. Reports from the Daily Mail suggest that Marseille is advancing in talks with United, meeting both the financial offer and the sell-on clause requirements.

Fabrizio Romano adds that United might also consider a loan deal for Greenwood, provided it includes a mandatory purchase clause. The club hopes to sell Greenwood as part of a broader strategy to raise funds for significant transfers in the summer window.

United aims to bolster their squad with two new center-backs and is currently targeting Bayern Munich’s Matthijs de Ligt and Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. An improved £50 million bid for Branthwaite indicates their serious interest. Additionally, a new defensive midfielder and striker are on United’s radar, with talks over Bologna’s Joshua Zirkzee nearing a positive conclusion.

To finance these ambitious transfers, United is looking to raise close to £100 million through player sales. Alongside Greenwood, the club is open to offers for key players including Casemiro, who has attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, as well as Jadon Sancho and Antony.
