Oside Oluwole, a Nigerian biochemist and auto dealer, known widely as Khoded, has officially become the new world record holder for the longest video game marathon. The Guinness World Records (GWR) announced this remarkable achievement on social media. At just 24 years old, Khoded set this impressive record by playing a soccer video game for an unprecedented 75 hours, playing over 500 games in total. He broke the previous 50-hour record set by Englishman David Whitefoot in 2022.

Khoded’s motivation for this challenging endeavor was to raise funds for a local hospital in his hometown of Ijebu-Ode. GWR praised Khoded’s accomplishment, noting that no one has ever broken this record by such a substantial margin. The record for the longest video game marathon was initially set in 2010 with a time of 24 hours and has been gradually extended to 50 hours, being broken seven times over the past 11 years. Khoded’s 75-hour record marks a significant leap in the history of this category.

This achievement not only showcases Khoded’s dedication and endurance but also highlights the growing global interest in competitive gaming and the potential for gaming marathons to support charitable causes. Khoded’s journey to the record books is a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact of gaming beyond entertainment.
