Barrack Obama, the former President of the United States, has announced his openly declared his support for Kamala Harris’s presidential bid.
Obama had made the announcement via a post he shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday.
What They’re Saying
The post read;
“Earlier this week, Michelle and I called our friend @KamalaHarris. We told her we think she’ll make a fantastic President of the United States, and that she has our full support.At this critical moment for our country, we’re going to do everything we can to make sure she wins in November. We hope you’ll join us,” he wrote.
Why It Matters
Barack Obama’s endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris is very significant for a number of reasons, one of which is because it reflects the historical impact of both figures -Obama, as the first person of color to be elected as U.S. president, and Harris, as the first female, Black, and Asian American vice president.
In addition, Obama has a major say in the Democratic party and his opinions/endorsement carries weight hence he could win over hesitant supporters for Harris, influencing the voted for the elections.
