Ismail Haniyeh, the Hamas politival leader has been killed in Tehran, according to a report by the Iranian state media, Press TV on Wednesday. The media had cited the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in the report.
The deceased Haniyeh had been the exiled political chief of the militant group and had spent a lot of his time in recent years in Qatar.
Haniyeh had acted as a negotiator in the ceasefire talks and collaborated with Hamas’s main ally, Iran, during the Israel-Gaza war.

A statement issued not long after Hamas reported Haniyeh’s death alongside his bodyguard had said that the political leader had died in a “Zionist raid” on his residence in Tehran after he participated in the inauguration of the new Iranian president.
According to a CNN report, it was not immediately clear when Haniyeh was killed, but the news network reported that it has reached out to the Israeli military for comment on Hamas’ claim.
Previously in April, Israeli airstrikes killed three of Haniyeh’s sons and four of his grandchildren in April, according to Hamas’ report then.
