Josh Oyinsan and Mimii Ngulube, Nigerian couple, have emerged winners in the eleventh season of Love Island UK, thus becoming the first Black couple in the history of the show. They walked away champions over Nicole Samuel-and-Ciaran Davies whom they defeated into second place.
The winner was announced by the show host Maya Jama on Monday, stating that Josh and Mimii got 48% of the votes from the public. This ensured that as the winning couple, they received a £50,000 cash reward for the show.
Josh, a 29-year-old footballer and model, and Mimii, a 24-year-old mental health nurse and actress announced that they are looking forward to seeing each other and know each other better apart from the show and to meet families and friends as well. It is a crucial addition for the show and is a clear example that diversity is needed in the modern reality show industry.
