Ejiofor Writes Petitions to IGP Over Recent Invasion of Delta Community

Barrister Ifeanyi Ejiofor, a human rights activist and lawyer, petitioned Kayode Egbetokun, the Inspector General of Police, on Sunday to get involved in the case of a suspected land invasion in Ogbeozoma Community, Okpanam, in the Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The alleged invader is one Chinedu Okere, also known as Ekwe.

Ejiofor revealed this to Owerri news reporters while lamenting the risks and aggravation that the community had to bear as a result of the conduct.

He stated, among other things, that the reported homicides in the area were the result of land disputes.

What they’re saying

He said , “We are Solicitors to Ogbeozoma Community, Okpanam in Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State, whom we shall hereinafter refer to as “Our Client,” and on whose specific and firm instruction we petition for a thorough investigation of the aforementioned heinous crimes.”

“It is our instruction that one Mr Chinedu Okeke, the ring leader of a criminal outfit that specialises in land grabbing, kidnapping, and murder of people believed to be their targets.

“We were further informed that our client’s peaceful community was at the wee hours of 22nd day of July, 2024, invaded by deadly criminal/terror gang who were heavily armed to the teeth with all forms of prohibited firearms, led by one Chinedu Okeke, a.k.a Ekwe.”

“It is our solemn appeal that this recent attack not be considered as an isolated incident, but rather as one of many, requiring prompt decisive action by the Police Force Headquarters. It is unheard of in a civilised society for an ordinary land grabber who has achieved renown for violent crimes to commit horrific crimes such as murdering security personnel while police continue to support him.

“It is very evident that Chinedu Okeke is a threat to civilised society and, by extension, the country’s national security, and that the intelligence community must deal with him firmly, regardless of whose ox is gored.

“Okeke is widely regarded as a sacred cow capable of committing any crime and getting away with it. There is enough of evidence to suggest that he committed violent crimes. Vehicles were
retrieved from the invaders in this recent incident,” he stated.

Bottom Line

Ejiofor’s petition emphasizes the need for a thorough investigation by the police to address the alleged criminal activities.

This is crucial to ensure justice for the victims and to prevent further violence. It is important for the police to investigate these claims impartially and transparently to restore confidence in law enforcement.
