Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun says people once questioned his ability to promote infrastructural development in the state.

Adeleke made the comment while hosting members of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), led by National President Margret Oguntala, on Friday in Osogbo.

The governor stated that when he presented his ambitious infrastructure plan across sectors in 2023, many people questioned his ability to carry it out successfully.

“To the glory of God, we have proven the critics wrong. We have demonstrated that we possess the will, capacity, and knowledge to attain our objectives. “We are determined to propel Osun to greater heights. “We have demonstrated strong passion to bridge the infrastructure gap in the state,” the governor added.

Adeleke stated that he believes that economic growth and development are best achieved when the infrastructure sector is effectively established.

The governor, who stated that he was motivated to take Osun to new heights, expressed a strong desire to close the state’s infrastructure gap.

“What you witnessed in Osogbo was small.Construction is proceeding in all 30 local governments and area councils. “Good infrastructure facilitates economic growth and that is what we are doing.”

The governor praised NSE for the visit and the honour given to him.

In her remarks, Oguntala praised the governor for the vast ongoing initiatives across the state, including the launch of a N100 billion infrastructure project.

“Your vision and drive for progress in the state are admirable, and we are proud to see the positive changes taking place throughout the state.”

“We also commend the numerous ongoing projects under your leadership, which are transforming the state, improving infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Osun,” according to her.

Oguntala stated that the NSE was totally dedicated to assisting the administration in converting the state into a hub of economic advancement, innovation, and a preferred destination for investors.

According to NAN, the governor later led NSE members to review current projects in Osogbo, the state capital.

Bottom Line

Critics may have doubted his capacity to execute large-scale projects effectively, especially given the state’s existing economic constraints.

However, Adeleke’s assertion that his administration has proven these critics wrong suggests that he has managed to make significant progress in delivering on his promises.

His focus on infrastructure as a key driver of economic growth aligns with a widely accepted principle that well-developed infrastructure is crucial for sustainable development.

The ongoing projects across all 30 local governments and area councils, as well as the praise from the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), indicate that his efforts are gaining recognition.
