The late veteran singer Onyeka Onwenu, fondly referred to as the ”Elegant Stallion,” will be laid to rest today in Lagos. Onwenu, who passed away on July 30th, at Reddington Hospital, Ikeja, after collapsing following a performance at the birthday party of Dr. Stella Okoli, the Managing Director of Emzor Pharmaceuticals, will be honored in a solemn ceremony.
The funeral service according to the Onwenu family would be held at the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju. After the service, she would be laid to rest in a private burial at a vault in ikoyi.
Going by the funeral flier, the event of the Service of Songs will commence from 10am through 12 noon while the burial will be from 2pm till 4pm. Today marks the final farewell to a legendary voice that left an indelible mark on Nigeria’s music scene.
