Yet-to-be identified gunmen who are alleged to be bandits in their large numbers have abducted two nurses and an unspecified number of patients from the Primary Healthcare Centre at Kuyallo, the eastern part of Birnin-Gwari LGA of Kaduna State.

From the reports gathered, the bandits were said to have targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School, at about 9:00 am on Monday. However, upon seeing that the school was empty, they stormed the closest health centre.

According to Meanwhile, Musa Alhassan, a leader of a local vigilante group in the area had said that the bandits were initially looking to abduct students but had instead taken two female nurses and several patients hostage, leaving the community in a state of panic.

What They’re Saying

Alhassan had recounted the events of that fateful morning saying,

“The bandits came to the school around 9:00 am, asking about the students, but when they found out the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people.

“The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.”
Consequently, an eyewitness further revealed that the bandits came into the healthcare centre carrying guns and machetes and dragged people out of the hospital.

Meanwhile, this incident is the latest in a series of attacks by bandits in the state. Just last week Friday, bandits had attacked a local community in Kaduna State.

As at press time, there is no official statement on the incident from the state government.
