Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has committed his future to the club until 2027 after penning a new three-year deal. The 42-year-old Spaniard, who joined in 2019, signed the extension just in time before the crucial North London Derby against Tottenham Hotspurs on September 15.

The club’s sporting director Edu said on the new deal, “Mikel has shown his qualities since day one, not only as a football manager but as a person with exceptional values. His new contract provides us with stability and clear direction as we aim for new heights.”

Arteta has brought about a revolution at the Emirates, guiding the Gunners to FA Cup and Community Shield successes while leading the team to successive runners-up finishes in the Premier League. His men have been the most consistent rivals for Manchester City over the past two seasons and are getting ready for another chase at the title in the 2024/25 season.

Arteta described his new deal thus: “I feel extremely proud and excited about what’s coming next. Working with the people at this club, and our incredible supporters, has been inspiring. Together, we’ve transformed the team, and I want to achieve much more.”

Arsenal have started this season well, taking two wins and one draw in the opening three games. Immediately after the North London Derby, they take on Atalanta in the Champions League and face a proper test with Manchester City in the Premier League.

The extension of Arteta’s deal is a big moment in Arsenal’s continuing pursuit to win more, with firm ambitions set on challenging for major honors in the years ahead.
