Arsenal defeated Paris Saint-Germain with confidence at the Emirates Stadium in the UEFA Champions League as the result marked their 15th unbeaten game under Mikel Arteta, where they have won 12 and drawn three.

The Gunners were in front from the outset, with Bukayo Saka cutting inside from the right to fire a curling effort narrowly wide of Gianluigi Donnarumma’s goal early on. PSG struggled to find rhythm, with Riccardo Calafiori’s crucial challenge on Achraf Hakimi thwarting one of their few attacking threats before Arsenal took the lead after 20 minutes. In two minutes, Leandro Trossard, powering down the left, cut inside and delivered an inch-perfect cross for Kai Havertz, who leaped high to nod past Donnarumma.

PSG had tried to answer with Nuno Mendes’ shot off the post and Hakimi’s effort parried away by David Raya, but Arsenal managed to double their lead before half time as Saka’s curling free kick beat everyone in the box and picked out the back of the net. The second goal came from some indecision from Donnarumma in goal.

Arteta’s men continued their dominance in the second half. Gabriel Martinelli nearly made it 3-0, but Donnarumma showed quick reflexes to reject him. Arsenal’s defensive wall marshaled by the commanding Gabriel was never really threatened by PSG. The introduction of Mikel Merino, playing his first match after recovering from injury, gave the home fans even more to cheer about.

PSG’s João Neves hit the crossbar, while Raya parried Lee Kang-in’s effort from long range, but Arsenal would not be breached. The French side could not find a breakthrough, while Arsenal made sure of a deserved victory.

PSG next play OGC Nice in Ligue 1, with Arsenal-mostly thanks to this win now leapfrogging PSG in the group standings-looking to carry on their good form at Southampton.
