The Islamic Republic of Iran has closed down its airspace in fears of a possible retaliation from Israel after Tuesday’s missile attacks.

An Iran state news agency, ISNA, had quoted the spokesman of the country’s aviation authority as declaring that all flights have been cancelled until 5:00 am (01:30 GMT) on Thursday to bolster aviation security.

Iran had originally closed the airspace over Tehran, postponing all flights up until Wednesday morning after it launched a barrage of missiles at Israel on Tuesday evening.

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps had meanwhile, said the attack was in retribution for the killings of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah and an Iranian general.

The headquarters of the Israeli foreign intelligence service, Mossad, and three Israeli air bases were the targets of the attack, according to Iran.
