The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has bought advanced equipment from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to stop birds from hitting airplanes at airports across the country. This action is meant to make flying safer and reduce problems caused by animals near airports.

Olubunmi Kuku, FAAN’s Manager, talked about how important it is to deal with bird strikes, especially after some recent events that caused big problems and damage to airplane engines. “Even though it’s hard, we’ve upgraded our tools to handle animal problems. Now, we’ve got the Wildlife Hazard Control Equipment from ICAO, which we’ll send to different airports to help with animal issues,” Kuku explained.

The equipment, which has tools for controlling animal problems, suggested storage places, and cars for checking runways for animals, will make things safer overall, according to FAAN’s Director of Airport Operations, Abdullahi Mohamud.
