Miss Chidimma Adetshina has been made the brand ambassador of Enugu State by Governor Peter Mbah for winning Miss Universe Nigeria 2024. The Governor announced this on October 11th when Chidimma and her father, Okechukwu Onwe, paid a courtesy visit to the Government House, Enugu. He commended the fighting spirit and determination of the South African-born Nigerian model as she will represent Nigeria in the Miss Universe contest which is scheduled to hold in Mexico.

The appointment of Chidimma as one of its brand ambassadors has been greeted with enthusiasm, as different individuals in Enugu and beyond have expressed their feelings. She showed great appreciation to the Enugu government and people in her response. She took to social media to express her excitement, thanking Nigeria for having her back through the journey, “I cannot express my gratitude for all the great things I have achieved in my father’s land”, she said.

Not everyone has been quite so encouraging, though. Some South Africans reacted to Chidimma’s appointment with negative remarks, railing against her appointment and bringing up past controversies associated with her family. They accused Nigeria of garlanding her success, others questioned her credentials.

While mixed reactions still trail her emergence, Chidimma remains above it all, determined in her quest to represent Nigeria with pride at Miss Universe. She is travel to Mexico, proudly carrying the flag of Enugu State and, of course, the entire nation, ready to show the world the beauty and strength of Nigeria.
