Israel has intensified its airstrikes in southern Lebanon, with Monday’s latest attack targeting the coastal city of Tyre. Lebanon’s health ministry reports that at least five people were killed and ten others injured in what it described as an “Israeli enemy strike” that hit a central building, causing the structure to crumble into rubble.

Rescue workers scrambled to find survivors amidst the debris, battling flames and sifting through remains of what was once a residential block. An AFP video captured the chaotic scene as emergency responders rushed a survivor to an ambulance while others attempted to extinguish the smoldering fire engulfing the area.

Tyre, renowned for its ancient history and UNESCO World Heritage sites, has faced severe damage in recent weeks, with large sections of the city’s center left in ruins. Israel’s stepped-up air raids on Tyre and other Hezbollah-linked areas in Lebanon come after months of escalating violence. Since last month, Israel has increased its bombardment of Hezbollah strongholds, sending ground forces into the region following ongoing exchanges with the Iran-backed group, which were sparked by the broader conflict over Gaza.

This surge in cross-border aggression highlights the heightened tension and volatility in the region, with civilian lives caught in the relentless cycle of strikes and retaliation.
