Nigeria Senate Approves N24 Billion Refund to Kebbi, Nasarawa States

The Nigerian Senate has agreed to President Bola Tinubu’s request to give back N24 billion to Kebbi and Nasarawa states. This money is for building airports for the federal government.

Senator Manu Haruna presented the Committee on Local and Foreign Debts’ report, which led to the approval. President Tinubu first asked for N15 billion for Kebbi and N9 billion for Nasarawa in May 2024.

The federal government believes the refund is fair because it has a duty to handle aviation, airport safety, and moving people and goods.

Senators Aminu Abbas and Isah Jibrin supported the refund, saying that airport infrastructure is important for growth and safety.

The approval was agreed upon by everyone, after Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin asked for a vote.
