Ekiti State Government Spends N314 Million on Office Furniture

The budget report for Ekiti State’s third quarter of 2024 shows that the government spent N314 million on office furniture in the first nine months of the year. This amount was more than what was allocated for important areas.

The money was used to buy 100 executive chairs and tables, 30 extra tables, 100 more chairs, and 15 settees. In comparison, N163 million was set aside for fixing water facilities and N200 million for improving public schools.

Only N4.3 million was given for primary healthcare development. The Ministry of Environment and rural and community development received N264.6 million and N157.1 million, respectively. N88.3 million was allocated for controlling flooding and erosion.

However, no fund was allocated for buying health or medical equipment, which raises questions about the government’s priorities for essential public services.
