Following his victory in the Ondo gubernatorial polls on Sunday, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him by the people of Ondo State and emphasized that his win signifies a call to deliver even more for the residents.
Speaking to reporters after his declaration as the winner of the election, Aiyedatiwa, who contested primarily against the PDP governorship candidate, Ajayi Agboola, highlighted the largely peaceful nature of the exercise.
Reflecting on his campaign journey, Aiyedatiwa noted that he had visited every part of the state, gaining firsthand insight into the needs and concerns of the people. He assured the public that his government would strive to improve conditions despite the state’s “limited resources.”
“I was the only candidate who visited every local government area—not just the capital, but all the communities. In almost every community, we saw the state of the roads, the living conditions, and heard the voices of the people. We responded to their questions, and we listened to their aspirations,” he said.
Aiyedatiwa promised to keep the people’s hopes alive by fulfilling his campaign promises within the available resources. “They have faith in me, and I will not let them down,” he concluded.
Bottom Line
Governor Aiyedatiwa’s victory is seen as a mandate to address the pressing needs of Ondo residents, with a strong focus on fulfilling promises despite financial constraints. The Governor has promised to not take lightly the trust that Ondo residents have vested in him, in fulfilling his responsibilities to the state.
As Ondo begins a new government era, the ability of the government to deliver especially after such lofty promises will weigh critically in the future dynamics of Ondo state.
