A former lawmaker from Anambra has been kidnapped

Benson Nwawulu, a former member of the House of Assembly for the state of Anambra, was kidnapped by armed individuals in the Ihiala Local Government Area of the state. 

Nwawulu served in the House of Assembly of the Anambra State Government for a total of two terms. 

Since he left the state in 2019, he had also run for the office again, but he was unsuccessful. 

On Sunday, his home in Ihiala was broken into and he was taken away, according to the sources. 

Although the specifics of his kidnapping were not made public, reports say that his son had approached certain current members of the state legislature in an attempt to obtain financial assistance before he was taken. 

Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesman for the state police command, has nevertheless acknowledged that the hostages have been taken and stated that efforts to free them are currently in an advanced stage.

Ikenga confirmed that he had been taken captive on Sunday, and the group is currently working to secure his release.

“He will be rescued soon because we are on their trail, and efforts are on top gear, and soon he will be rescued.”
