A Magistrate Court in Kuje, Abuja, has granted a N500,000 bail to Alex Ikwechegh, a member of the House of Representatives from Abia. This decision was made after Ikwechegh was accused of assault and threatening someone’s life.
Ikwechegh appeared in court on Wednesday, facing three charges related to assault and threatening someone’s life. These charges were brought by the Office of the Inspector-General of Police. He said he was not guilty.
The accusations come from an alleged attack on Stephen Abuwatseya, a Bolt driver.
The court made its decision after thinking about how serious the accusations were and making sure Ikwechegh had the right to a fair trial.
