The Minister of Works, David Umahi, has promised that in 24 months, all sections of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano highway will be finished .
Senator David Umahi had made the assurance on Friday while inspecting the Abuja-Kaduna section of the highway.
The Minister, who went on the inspection with the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Wale Edun, had explained that the government gave the new deadline after reaching an agreement with the contractor of the road, Julius Berger Construction Company.
It is noteworthy to mention that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration had given the contract in 2018 on a completion month of 36 months but had been unable to fulfill the promise when his tenure came to an end.
Umahi, on his part had blamed of the road construction on lack of funds, assuring that the government was fully committed to complete the road on time.
Umahi had said, “Julius Berger has agreed to finish the 15 kilometres daily because the new date was agreed on.”
