One year after the Abuja-Kaduna which happened on March 28, 2022, Chinelo Megafu’s family paid tribute to their daughter who died in the train attack.
Chinelo Megafu was the dental surgeon, that tweeted on March 28, 2022, that “I’m on the train. I have been shot, please pray for me,”. Many Nigerians made jest of her, ignored the post, and even joked about it.
On behalf of the entire family, Ifeanyi Megafu, the father of the deceased signed a tribute to mark her first death anniversary.
He wrote a very emotional tribute, in which he blamed the country for her death, as according to him, the daughter had the opportunity to expose the truth but Nigerians mocked and ridiculed her, a country she once served mocked her till she died
He wrote, “On that fateful evening in your agony as life ebbed away, God’s spirit prompted you to tell the world the real truth as you prayed: ‘I’m on the train. I have been shot, please pray for me,’
“That act of courage immediately changed the narrative, putting paid to the usual vapid, sinful, lie and denial-strewn statements that were checkmated. You became the poster face of a beleaguered and slipping nation. A nation you served so much but prematurely consumed you. The country failed you and your generation.”
Nigerians still haven’t recovered from the Abuja-Kaduna train attack as it is still a reminder that Nigeria Isa a country that consumes its inhabitants.
