Veteran Nollywood actor Ejike Asiegbu has issued an apology to Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for publicly criticizing him online.
Previously, actress Uche Nnanna-Maduka had shared a video on social media condemning Governor Uzodinma for a power outage at the Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport in Imo. Other actors featured in the video include Ejike Asiegbu, Fred Amata, Gloria Nobert Young, Grace Amah, and Keppy Ekpenyong.
Criticizing Uzodinma’s administration, Nnanna-Maduka expressed frustration over being asked to claim luggage outside due to a power outage at Imo Airport, deeming it unacceptable in 2024.
She questioned the governance of the state and called out Governor Hope Uzodinma, labeling the situation as shameful for Imo state. In response, the governor’s chief press secretary, Oguwuike Nwachuku, wrote a newspaper article accusing Nnanna-Maduka of being paid to make the remarks.
On Thursday, actor Ejike Asiegbu issued a public apology on behalf of his colleagues, criticizing Nwachukwu’s comments as unkind and unprofessional.
He apologized to Governor Hope Uzodinma for any embarrassment caused by the video, emphasizing that they are people of integrity and not easily influenced, contrary to Nwachukwu’s accusations.
This was after Nnanna-Maduka had apologized for the video he filmed.
