Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has approved the payment of the new minimum wage of N70,000 to state workers, starting August 2024, following President Bola Tinubu’s signing into law the Minimum Wage bill.
Although some governors expressed disapproval, citing limited resources, Gov. Fintiri has kept his word and paid out higher salaries to state employees. The new minimum pay will also be paid out, starting September 2024, to local government workers.
This was confirmed by state workers who have received their salaries, as reported by Daily Trust, causing excitement among civil servants who described Gov. Fintiri as “the man of his word.”.
The Adamawa State Government has ensured that appropriate steps are taken to allocate sustainable funding for the new minimum wage, thereby guaranteeing its continuity.
This landmark achievement for the Fintiri administration, popularly known as the “Fresh Air Government” by its supporters, demonstrates his commitment to Adamawa state workers’ welfare
