About N420m Naira has been approved by the Adamawa SEC to use to purchase just 10 school shuttle buses to alleviate the fuel subsidy hardship among students. This figure is alarmingly high and begs the question: “Would this money truly be dedicated to the purchase of these vehicles and only these vehicles?” The Federal Government of Nigeria ought to look into this.
The Adamawa State Executive Council, SEC, has sanctioned over N420 million to acquire ten 72-seater blue bird school shuttle buses as alleviative measures for students.
The buses will be deployed across school roads in the state, especially in the capital city, Yola where most schools are situated at.
Mrs Neido Geoffrey Kafulto, the State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, informed newsmen on Wednesday that the approval by the council for the urgent procurement of the buses was to mitigate the effect of subsidy removal on students.
The buses would be purchased by Vokna Investment and Real Estate, Abuja and they are surmised to be supplied within seven working days.
Kafulto said the decision was conceived out of the successes documented by the earliest launch of 10 luxury buses. These buses have been operating across all popular roads, mainly around the three metropolitan local government areas: Yola North, Yola South and Girei.
