The news making rounds on the internet that the Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa will not feature for Nigeria again after AFCON 2021 has been confirmed as fake by the man himself.

In an interview held Monday evening at the National Stadium in Abuja just before the commencement of the Super Eagles training, Ahmed Musa said that he’s always ready and available to represent Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast next year should the Super Eagles qualify.

The former Leicester City winger who now plies his trade in Turkish Süper Lig with
Fatih Karagümrük is the current holder of the most appearances for the Nigeria national team with 105 appearances. He has been featuring for the Super Eagles since 2010, winning the 2013 AFCON trophy in that period and he’s the player with the most goal (4) for Nigeria at the world cup.

While speaking to the media team on Monday evening, the 29-year-old said: “I’m always happy to play for my country and I’m sure the coach knows what I can contribute to the team and that’s why I’m here with the national team.”

Musa said further: “I never said I will stop playing for Nigeria after the next AFCON tournament because I’m still very active

and if the coach feels I can add to the team and he sends an invite then I will definitely come. And about 2026 world cup, let’s see what happens”.

Musa is currently part of the squad training with the national team ahead of the AFCON qualifying campaign against Sierra Leone and São Tomé and Príncipe in a few days.
